To bolster the visibility and presence of Fondue's CashBack offers, our team included not one, but two refined offer deployment methods in our latest platform update. Here's a quick breakdown of each feature and how they work to drive tangible ROI for merchants.
With our CashBack Bubble, your shoppers will see a notification message during their on-site journey, alerting them that they qualify for a cash-back offer. As your shoppers add items to their carts, the CashBack Bubble will update in real time to display the total amount they can claim once they arrive at checkout.Â
If shoppers want additional information on how CashBack works or compliance details, they can click on the bubble, which will open a popup with that information — providing them with a continuous confidence boost.

Previously, a shopper’s CashBack offer was displayed as a product in their cart. But this caused fulfillment issues for some of our merchants so we set out to find a better way. With our new CashBack Checkout Extension, any merchant operating on Shopify Plus can display a CashBack offer on their checkout page — bolstering offer visibility at the point of sale.Â
This extension informs shoppers on the amount of CashBack they will receive based on the aggregate value of the products in their cart. The offer will also list the CashBack eligibility of each item — removing confusion and instilling trust. We've already seen a 20% increase in CVR from merchants using this feature compared to not having the CashBack offer visible in their cart.
The CashBack Checkout Extension is only available for Shopify Plus merchants, since Shopify restricts checkout extension functionality to only Plus plans. Learn more about setting it up here.
If you’re not on Shopify Plus, you can still use Fondue CashBack. Your shoppers will see the CashBack Bubble and receive their redemption email post-purchase, they just won’t see the CashBack Checkout Extension.
With the release of these new deployment methods, we've not only reshaped how customers receive CashBack offers, but also how merchants manage them.
Prior to this update, merchants were required to implement a cart widget for CashBack offers. To achieve this, they needed to inject a single line of code into their theme — making it temperamental to theme code changes.Â
With the introduction of Fondue's CashBack Bubble and Checkout Extension, coding requirements have been eliminated, reducing developer reliance and improving reliability.
Traditionally, Fondue's CashBack offers would appear as a product in a shopper's cart, and the cart widget would indicate the eligibility of each item.Â
With this platform update, we've repositioned CashBack as a checkout extension to eliminate fulfillment errors while using our Bubble feature to streamline the customer journey. The result? A complete elimination of fulfillment-related errors.
From extensive testing of these two new features with over 65,000 shoppers, we’re happy to report that we’ve seen an average of 6% increase in conversions for merchants using the CashBack Bubble and Checkout Extension together, compared to our previous model of having the CashBack appear as a product in the cart.
